A LEADER IN WATER RESEARCH, POLICY, AND EDUCATION

Fossil Creek

Arizonans have a special appreciation for water. Clean, fresh water is crucial for wildlife and healthy ecosystems, agriculture and a sustainable food supply, our state’s economy, and the health and well-being of our state’s growing population. As Arizona enters its second decade of statewide drought due to long-term precipitation deficits and increased demand for water, water issues have become even more critical.

NAU is a leader in emerging aspects of water policy, research, and education. Several programs at NAU, as well as collaborative programs that we partner in, are providing important information to policy-makers across the state about water quality; restoration and monitoring of springs, wetlands, and riparian areas; and providing outreach, policy support, and education regarding water issues across the state and internationally.
